Beauty Resolutions to Accomplish This New Year was written by an anonymous guest contributor.
It’s that time of year again – the resolution season! We’ve heard all the standard goals before: cut down on sweets, go to the gym more often, declutter your spaces, but what about your beauty resolutions? Establishing a few beauty-related goals is a great way to build confidence and enhance your health as you navigate 2020. They don’t have to be too complicated, either. The more attainable they are, the better.
Beauty Resolutions:
1. Speak With A Dermatologist
Contrary to popular belief, upping your skincare game doesn’t always mean buying the latest OTC product or adding time-consuming steps to your skincare regimen. Sometimes, it just means speaking with a dermatologist to find the right solution for you. Whether you’re looking to get a skincare treatment for a specific concern or simply some advice on your beauty regimen, chatting with an expert is a surefire way to keep you looking and feeling your best all year round. 2. Clean Your Makeup Brushes Regularly
In 2020, cleaning your makeup brushes regularly is no longer optional; it’s a must. Although it may seem tedious and unnecessary, washing your tools on a weekly basis is essential for maintaining healthy skin. Most makeup brushes are quite porous, which causes bacteria, dirt, and oil to build up quickly. That’s why neglecting this practice often leads to skin irritation, breakouts, and an uneven makeup application. For this reason, it’s critical that you consistently clean your brushes using a gentle soap or makeup brush cleanser. 3. Apply Sunscreen Daily
It’s no secret the negative impact the sun can have on your skin, but how many of us actually remember to apply sunscreen daily? From hot and sunny days to cold and cloudy ones, sunscreen should be an imperative part of your beauty routine. Besides reducing your risk of skin cancer, wearing sunscreen also helps to prevent dark spots, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, and premature wrinkles. To preserve your youthful glow, vow to apply SPF this year. It doesn’t matter if you opt for a facial sunscreen or a moisturizer with SPF. As long as you use the product habitually, you’re bound to reach your personal care goals in no time.
4. Moisturize More Often
Believe it or not, moisturizers are a key skin health component as it serves to plump and hydrate it. Most moisturizers are rich with antioxidants and other water-retaining ingredients like hyaluronic acid, which have proven to improve the brightness and texture of your skin. So. to achieve fresh, radiant skin in 2020, commit to moisturizing from head to toe at least once a day. Just remember to be mindful of your skin type before you slather on different face creams and body lotions and evaluate the ingredients listed on the label of your products.
5. Get More Sleep
Getting the right amount of sleep can be challenging between school projects, work, friends, family, and extracurricular activities. Still, it’s important to make the effort to get the shut-eye you need to feel rejuvenated. Following the “beauty sleep” approach, you must block out enough time each night to rest and reset. This is because your body is restorative during these hours, working to repair and recuperate itself before a new day begins. To reap all the benefits of a good night’s sleep, stick to a set schedule and aim to get at least seven hours of sleep per night.
