HAUS Laboratories: My Honest Review

Hello, lovely readers!

If you know me, then you know one thing: I’m a Lady Gaga superfan! That’s why I was excited when it was announced that Mother Monster was coming out with a new, cruelty-free makeup line, HAUS Laboratories! I set my alarm for the date and time of presale, purchased the HAUS OF GODDESS collection, and waited for two months for my lovely package to arrive. About a week ago, I opened my Amazon package to reveal my new favorite makeup items…or so I thought. Read on to discover my 100% unbiased views.

Packaging

The packaging is stunning! The spike-tipped wands and black colored cases are very true to the Gaga brand. The designs looked even better than I imagined it would be based on the product photos on Amazon. Definitely Insta-worthy!

RIP LIP LINER in Myth

The pigmentation is off the charts. I was blown away by the intense color and easy-to-apply consistency when I first applied it. The color was much darker and browner than I anticipated, which looked slightly off with my fair skin tone. Don’t let that sway you because I’ve never been able to pull off a brown lip. It also lasted a few hours until I ate something and had to reapply. This wouldn’t have bothered me if it weren’t marketed as a long-wearing product. For that reason, I’m docking it half a point.

LE RIOT GLOSS in Venus

The pigmentation in the gloss was great, but the thick, tacky formula was what put me off. When I applied it over the liner, it felt like it didn’t want to adhere to it. It was dragging on the liner, taking multiple coats to fully saturate my lips (with or without lip liner). The color that I bought looked perfect without the liner, and the reflection was amazing. The lasting power was also great and lasted about two hours before I had to reapply (without eating). Although, because of the stickiness, I don’t think I would reach for it more than my other glosses unless I’m in a situation where I need something more long-lasting.

GLAM ATTACK Liquid Shimmer Powder in Aphrodite

The all-over shimmer powder was anything but lackluster! The amount of sparkle in it was stunning! However, I felt an intense burning sensation when I applied it to my eyes and cheekbones. I have sensitive skin, which may have been the cause, but I was still disappointed in how my skin reacted to the ingredients. Maybe an allergy? Who knows. According to the ingredient list, the product doesn’t contain fragrance, so that couldn’t have been the culprit.

I also saw some glitter on my boyfriend’s face from the powder rubbing off (while wearing primer and setting spray). HAUS Labs claims that it’s “Flake-Proof, Smear-Proof, Transfer-Proof,” which is clearly not the case judging by my boyfriend’s sparkly cheek.

Final Verdict

I really wanted to love HAUS Laboratories. The color pigmentation was out of this world, but the formula was not something I would gravitate towards, especially because of the burning sensation from the shimmer powder. However, since I have sensitive skin, I think that this product may work for people with other skin types. In my opinion, the real stand-out product was the RIP Lip Liner because of its intense color payoff and easy application. Remember, beauty products work differently for everyone so that you may have a much better experience than my own!

Here’s a photo of the look I created with the products:

Lady Gaga, if you’re reading this, you have been my constant role model and inspiration ever since Just Dance played at my middle school formal. Your music and overall messages of equality and self-acceptance have gotten me through many hard times, and I’m forever thankful for that. I wish you and HAUS Laboratories all the best!

Until my next post, fashionistas! I hope you enjoyed my review. Have you tried HAUS Laboratories? Leave your experience in the comments below!
